Music magazine cover
analysis - Clash
This magazine cover is from
the magazine “Clash”.
I think that it channels
simplicity and a big focus on the main feature. At the top of the cover it
gives you a little teaser as to what is inside the magazine, this lures you
into buying it as it catches your eye. The cover is not over loaded with tons
of information and I think that this makes the cover look very chic and
sophisticated, this suggests it is
targeted at the higher end of the middle class and the older generations. The
colurs are also very classic with a scheme of black, white and gold which is
obviously kept to a minimum.
This magazine makes it very
clear from the titles that it has cotent related to The Beatles but it kind of
‘clashes’ as it has Jay-Z on the front and they are both from not only
different musical genres but also very different eras, which gives the magazine
an unusual twist but would also probably be hard to find a decent sized
audience with this acquired taste.
The effects on the main image
are very dark and sultery, this signafies mystery and makes you want to look
inside to find out more about the artist on the front. It also promises that
Jay-z will ’reveal all’ which is very unlikely with him being such a huge star
but it makes you want to fnd it all out and want to buy it and read inside as
it makes you inquizative want to know what he is willing to tell.
the main text on the cover is
related to the main image and I think that this is shown well and is not to be
mixed up. It seems that all the writing at the top of the cover is directed at
talking about the beatles and the text at the bottom of the cover is again
related to the cover artist Jay-z. The text on the cover is shown in three
different fonts there is the font of the title, the font of the sub titles
which are all italics and then lastly the writing of the make of the artist
Jay-z is begger than the rest to signafy it it is the most improtant.
